Granite aggregate for gabions (most commonly fraction 31–63 mm or 63–100 mm in grey – Strzegom granite) is currently the most frequently chosen filler for gabion baskets in Poland.
It provides a modern, raw appearance, is practically indestructible (does not fade, crack or require maintenance) and perfectly stabilizes the structure. It looks excellent in fences, walls, large planters, acoustic barriers, terrace screens or as an element of modern landscape architecture. A timeless material that will perform well for many years.

Key properties of granite aggregate for gabions
  • Rock type — deep igneous granite (quartz + feldspar + biotite/mica), mechanically crushed
  • Color — dominant grey / light grey Strzegom (with black and white speckles – the so-called “dalmatian”), grey-rust / rust (warmer tone), sometimes graphite or darker
  • Grain shape — irregular, crushed, angular with sharp edges → perfectly locks into the gabion mesh, does not spill out, stable construction
  • Hardness and abrasion resistance — extremely high (LA ≈ 20–35, the same as granite paving stone)
  • Frost resistance — full (F1–F2), does not crack or flake even with road salt and temperatures down to −30°C
  • Water absorption — very low (<0.5–1%) → does not absorb water, does not get dirty easily, does not grow moss or algae
  • Weather resistance — highest level: UV, acid rain, salt, frost, heat, wind – color stable for decades (granite gabions look like new even after 20–30 years)
  • Aesthetics — raw, modern, elegant; grey color is universal (fits minimalist, industrial and modern arrangements), rust color adds warmth
  • Natural, without artificial dyes, ecological (often recycled from granite paving or slab production)
