Basalt Grit – 220 PLN / ton in a big bag
It is one of the most durable natural aggregates used in construction, gardening and landscape architecture. It is produced by mechanical crushing of volcanic rock – basalt.
Our basalt has the most beautiful color compared to other basalts available on the market. Without a doubt, it is the blackest basalt you can buy.
Most popular fractions and typical applications
| FRACTION | TYPICAL APPLICATION |
|---|---|
| 2–5 mm / 2–8 mm | Garden paths, flower beds, mulching, garden ponds |
| 8–16 mm / 16–22 mm | Driveways, terraces, walkways, borders around the house, drainage, filtration layer |
The color is black and looks particularly beautiful after rain. Keep in mind that in Poland most days are gray, cloudy and wet, so for most of the year the grit maintains an intense black color. In spring and summer, when dry, it takes on darker anthracite tones. Over 20 years we have not found a more beautiful basalt that performs so well in our climate. It is a minimalist and reliable choice that looks elegant all year round.
Recommended for gardens: industrial, minimalist, traditional, monochromatic, modern, Japanese and Scandinavian.
With this material you can achieve a spectacular effect at a very good, budget-friendly price.
Key properties of basalt grit
- Very high hardness and abrasion resistance – one of the hardest igneous rocks
- Excellent frost resistance – class F1–F2, fully frost-resistant even in the Polish climate
- Low water absorption – usually < 2–3% (WA24), practically does not absorb water
- High resistance to chemical and physical weathering – ages very slowly and color remains stable for decades
- No alkali reactivity (does not react with cement alkalinity)
- High compressive and crushing strength
- Good load-bearing capacity – ideal for structural layers and driveways
- Color – deep black, graphite, dark gray (after impregnation it becomes even more intense)
- Non-flammable, chemically inert, ecological (without artificial dyes)
If you are looking for a solid material for a driveway, path, flower bed or planter topping, basalt grit is an excellent choice in terms of durability and aesthetics (especially for modern and minimalist designs).
