Key properties of Bianco Carrara grit
- Rock type — calcite marble (holocrystalline metamorphic limestone), a very pure variety of calcium carbonate with small admixtures (e.g., silica, graphite)
- Color — snow white / white-gray; depending on the season the shade may appear slightly different, which makes color perception highly subjective
- Structure — fine- to medium-crystalline; after rain or impregnation it becomes strongly glossy / sparkles in sunlight
- Hardness — medium (3–4 on the Mohs scale)
- Frost resistance — very good / full (F1–F2), resistant to the Polish climate (low water absorption and high strength after freezing)
- Water absorption — low (approx. 0.1–0.3% in raw block; in grit 0.5–1.5%) → absorbs less than typical Polish marbles but still requires impregnation on pathways
- Acid resistance — low (typical for marbles → reacts with acids: becomes matte, loses shine from acidic fertilizers, vinegar, or acid rain)
- Mechanical strength — good (compressive strength approx. 120–130 MPa), but not suitable for heavy vehicular traffic
- Aesthetics — luxurious, cool white, elegant, minimalist; strongly contrasts with greenery, plants, wood, and architectural concrete; creates a “clean” effect
- Natural, without dyes, ecological (although imported)
