Janowice mottled pebble is the most popular “lively” version of Janowice dolomite (enriches soil). A great choice for beds, paths, pots and ponds if you like a natural pastel mix with white and warm color accents. It brightens the garden with subtle color diversity. Impregnation is recommended on frequently used surfaces (paths), as it tends to absorb dirt and moisture. Ideal for acid-loving plants thanks to its deacidifying properties. This pebble is the only one with a certified light reflectance document, which makes it perfect for covering flat roofs. Its technical light-reflecting properties prevent the roof from overheating.

Key properties of Janowice mottled pebble
  • Rock type — metamorphic dolomite (dolomitic marble), mechanically or naturally rounded
  • Color — dominant white / ecru / light cream (about 50–70% of grains), with numerous natural discolorations: pastel beige, delicate pinks, ochre, light brown, greys, sometimes bluish / greenish or graphite streaks and spots. The discolorations are irregular, giving a warm, multicolored, “lively” effect (not uniform white)
  • Shape — rounded, smooth, naturally polished (similar to river stones), surface satin / slightly matte
  • Hardness — medium (approx. 3.5–4.5 on the Mohs scale), sufficient for decorative use but not suitable for heavy traffic driveways
  • Frost resistance — good (F1–F2), performs well in the Polish climate, although dolomite may slightly matte over the years
  • Water absorption — medium to high (1–4%) → absorbs moisture and may get dirty faster than granite/basalt; color becomes more intense after rain
  • Acid resistance — low (reacts with acids → may become dull from acidic fertilizers, vinegar or acid rain)
  • Soil properties — strongly deacidifies soil (calcium-magnesium action), ideal around acid-loving plants (conifers, heather, rhododendrons) or for neutralizing acidic soils
  • Aesthetics — bright, warm, natural, “cozy”; discolorations add character and depth; brightens gardens and works well with plants, wood and both modern and rustic arrangements
  • Natural, without artificial dyes, ecological
