Janowice variegated pebbles are the most popular “lively” version of Janowice dolomite. They are an excellent choice for flower beds, garden paths, planters and water features if you like a natural pastel mix with white and warm color accents.
They brighten the garden and create a subtle diversity of tones. Impregnation is recommended for frequently used surfaces such as paths because the stone can absorb dirt and moisture. Thanks to its soil-neutralizing properties it is ideal around acid-loving plants.
This pebble is unique because it has certified light reflectance, which makes it suitable for use on flat roofs. Its reflective properties help reduce heat absorption and prevent excessive roof heating.
Key properties of Janowice variegated pebbles
- Rock type — metamorphic dolomite (dolomitic marble), mechanically rounded
- Color — dominant white / ecru / light cream (approx. 50–70% of the grains) with natural variations such as pastel beige, soft pink, ochre, light brown, grey and sometimes bluish, greenish or graphite streaks or spots
- Shape — rounded, smooth and naturally polished (similar to river stones), satin or slightly matte surface
- Hardness — medium (approx. 3.5–4.5 on the Mohs scale), suitable for decorative use but not recommended for heavy vehicle traffic
- Frost resistance — good (F1–F2), performs well in Central European climates
- Water absorption — medium to high (1–4%), absorbs moisture and may get dirty faster than granite or basalt; color becomes more intense after rain
- Acid resistance — low (reacts with acids and may become dull when exposed to acidic fertilizers, vinegar or acid rain)
- Soil properties — strongly neutralizes soil acidity thanks to calcium-magnesium content, ideal around conifers, heathers and rhododendrons
- Aesthetics — bright, warm and natural appearance; color variations add character and depth while visually brightening the garden
- Natural and eco-friendly material without artificial pigments
