Snow-white Thassos pebbles are a masterpiece of nature. If you want the pure “gallery-style” effect of a snow-white garden, this material will deliver exactly that.
Perfect for modern, minimalist, Scandinavian and Mediterranean garden designs – it visually brightens the space, makes it appear larger and adds a sense of luxury. It is undoubtedly the king of white decorative stones.
There is one thing to keep in mind – as beautiful as it is, it is also demanding. It is intended for people who appreciate aesthetics and elegance and are willing to maintain it. The stone requires occasional cleaning. Lawn watering nearby, minerals contained in water (especially iron), as well as weather conditions such as rain or snow may cause slight discoloration over time. It is also important to consider the environment where the stone will be used – for example, in rural areas where fertilizers or field treatments may come into contact with the stone.
It is not recommended to place the pebbles in constantly standing water. Marble that absorbs water may develop discoloration that cannot be removed. Despite these requirements, Thassos remains an absolute hit among decorative stones.
It works particularly well as decorative borders around in-ground swimming pools. When properly prepared and impregnated, it performs excellently in such environments, especially in sunny areas where water evaporates quickly.
Key properties of Thassos snow-white pebbles
- Rock type — marble, mechanically rounded
- Color — snow-white / pure white (the whitest natural marble in the world); when wet or after rain it becomes glossy with a pearly crystalline shimmer
- Shape — perfectly rounded and smooth with a satin-like surface that shines beautifully in sunlight
- Hardness — medium (3–4 on the Mohs scale, typical for marble), suitable for decorative applications but not recommended for vehicle traffic
- Frost resistance — full (F1–F2), excellent in Central European climates – does not crack, flake or change color
- Water absorption — low (typically 0.1–0.5% in blocks; in pebbles <1–1.5%); however contact with water containing iron may cause slight darkening
- Acid resistance — low (typical for marble – may become dull from acidic fertilizers, vinegar or acidic rain); impregnation recommended in humid environments
- Weather resistance — very high: color remains stable, does not fade, and after cleaning looks like new
- Aesthetics — luxurious pure white premium stone; strongly reflects light, visually enlarges spaces and creates a “snow carpet” effect that contrasts beautifully with greenery, dark plants, concrete, wood and black architectural elements
- Natural, eco-friendly material without artificial pigments
